Think Spice....think Caraway
Iam glad to host Think Spice for the month of May. Thanks to dear Sunita of Sunita's World for giving me an opportunity to host the event.
The Spice i have chosen for May is Caraway Seeds. The event begins on 1st of may and ends on 27th of May.

Caraway or Persian cumin is a biennial plant native to europe and western asia. The plant is similar in appearance to a carrot plant.
Caraway fruits [ erroneously called seeds ] are crescent shaped around 2mm long with five pale ridges. The fruits, usually used whole, have a pungent, anise-like flavor and aroma that comes from essential oils, mostly carvone and limonene.
They are used as a spice in breads especially rye bread, which is denser because of the yeast-killing properties of the essential oil, limonene.
Caraway is also used in liquors, casseroles, and other foods, especially in Central European and Northern European cuisine, for . It is also used to add flavor to cheeses such as havarti. Akvavit and several liqueurs are also made with caraway.
In Indian cooking Caraway seeds are called as Shahjeera or Kalajeera or Blackcumin.
Post a recipe of any kind, using Caraway Seeds, also, in any form you desire (seeds, powder, oil, etc.) … it would be really nice if the spice could hold it’s ground in the dish and is not overpowered by many others….after all, the dish is supposed to be dedicated specially to them.Feel free to share all your queries and information on the chosen spice.
Include a link back to this post for the benefit of your readers and future references.
Email me your entry with your name, a picture,if any (250 pixels wide, height does not matter) of your dish and the permalink of your recipe by or before 27th May to appetitetreats@gmail.com with the subject - Think Spice…think caraway Seeds.
Non -Bloggers are also welcome to participate. Just e-mail me your entry with a picture to appetitetreats@gmail.com.
The round ups will be posted during the first week of June.
Feel free to use the logo.
So, i hope you all would come over with your wonderful dishes spiced up with caraway seeds !
